Well for those that dont watch Swallowed Star (produced by the same studio) the studio announced that they have reduced the episode duration for that series to to unavoidable circumstances. I havent seen any announcement regarding Soul Land so I am assuming that it is also being affected.

As much as some of you feel frustrated with the short episode, and for whatever reason you are upset about, remember it is free to watch and the studio didnt make this decision to shorten the episode length for the fun of it or lightly. I hope that the studio's staff will be healthy and well. Personally I just wish that the studio stop production all together then you guys will have a legitimate reason to complain about lol

Yeah they should have postponed it. The reality is, while there are a couple good scenes towards the end, the latter quarter of the novel is a shitty, rushed mess compared to its beginning/middle (arguably as early as the SG Trials). Now production is faced with the impossible task of cramming, cutting, and adapting subpar material into 7min eps (probably soon) with a reduced budget and a ridiculous/failed zero tolerance policy. A healthy percentage of the audience has already ditched and may not return for SL2. If anyone wants to lay blame for this going down the toilet, I'd encourage them to place it at the feet of the author, because there's little they could do to "save" the latter part of novel without completely re-writing it imo.

mhm totally agree, also the fact they are also currently developing Soul Land 2 AND Ghost Blade (Gui Dao, based on WLOP's artwork) AND pumping out Wu Geng Ji current season... sigh... I dunno you can see Swallowed Star's story is is being affected as well

Oh wow, well that explains it. I lost interest in WGJ a long time ago but the Ghost Blade trailer looks pretty lit. Is the source material any good? I'll give SL2 a go too when it's released.

WLOP's art work is well for me a hit and miss, his art sometimes looks like he threw sand on a painting and sprayed it with some blood lol There are some really good ones though

you cant blame the author..... they aint the ones creating the animation.... actually the studio can make this series anyway they see fit once they acquire the right from the author or whoever has them... they could make a completely different story from the source with the same characters if they so choose... this is why everything based on source material has a disclaimer saying the the movie/show is based on the book/manga/novel..... Based is the key word
